Please review the adoption policies before inquiring about rats. Many of your questions can be answered on this page. If you don't see the answer, please reach out!

I will only adopt out pups in same sex groups. I do not adopt out single juvenile rats. This is non-negotiable. Even if you have rats at home, rats need same-age company when they're young. They'll be more active than a more mature rat, and having a friend of the same age gives them somewhere to put that excess energy.

I do occasionally have adults available for adoption. Adult rats can be adopted as singles as long as you have at least one adult rat at home. These rats are typically retired breeders or rats who were breeding prospects and didn't make the cut. Sometimes we have rescues as well.

I am happy to work with fellow breeders. I do not believe in gatekeeping the hobby. That being said, if you're interested in adopting rats for a breeding program, please be honest. Some of my lines are more established and are better suited for breeding than others. By being honest, you ensure you're getting the best rats for your intended program and goals.

If you can't keep your rats for any reason, I require that you return them to me. Part of being a responsible breeder is ensuring I'm not adding to the current overload at shelters and rescues. For this reason, I will happily take back any of my rats. Things happen. Sometimes finances destabilize. Sometimes people realize rats aren't the right pet for them. Whatever the reason, you can rest assured that I will accept the rats with no judgment. If the rats are returned in good health, you can also adopt again in the future once things in your life settle.

I request that adopters keep in touch about the health and temperaments of the rats they adopt from me. Just an update every once in a while will suffice. I can only hold back so many rats, so I am not able to get the data for my lines without my adopters. You have a chance to help me see the bigger picture, and I'm grateful for the adopters who keep in contact.

To add to that, I don't disappear once you take the rats home. I am still available if you ever have any questions or just want to share some cute rat pictures.

Below, you will find the adoption application. Please fill out the fields to the best of your ability. If you aren't sure about an answer, just let me know and I'll be happy to help you choose the best diet, cage, enrichment, etc. There is more than one correct way to keep rats, so answers which differ from my recommendations do not count you out as long as your answers are still in accordance with proper husbandry and won't hurt the rats.

Once I receive your application, I'll reach out to discuss adoption with you. While a cell phone number isn't mandatory, I do find it to be the easiest way to communicate. My response emails sometimes end up in spam folders.
